What is "Molding" in Radial Shaft Seal Manufacturing?

Molding is an integral part of the manufacturing process for radial shaft seals as it allows for the precise and efficient production of seals with complex shapes, which is essential for their proper function.

At ESP, we compression mold our radial shaft seals. This method is similar to injection molding, but the rubber is not melted before it is placed in the mold. Instead, the rubber is placed in the mold and then compressed under pressure. The heat generated by the compression causes the rubber to vulcanize or harden.
